RAISE YOUR GRADE

Right before holiday break, Hillsboro High school students gathered in the gym to enjoy two events sponsored by the Renaissance program.

The first called “Raise Your Grades” challenged students to raise their grades by one letter grade before the holiday break. In doing so, their name went into a prize drawing. A total of 219 students raised their grades, some in more than one subject. Forty names were drawn for prizes at the assembly. The rewards included staff donations, bowling passes from Highland Lanes, gift certificates from Ponderosa, Alley 21, Magee's restaurant, and gifts from the National Guard and Edward Jones. All students who did not win a prize will be given a cafeteria ice cream coupon. Jamie Treadway, who raised her grades in five classes, received a portable DVD player donated through staff contributions.
