| 08/15/2009 | You should put a "photos" section on the high school webpage. The first photos could be of the community members, students and parents at the open houses this week. Moderator: We plan on doing an article with several photos soon. If you have photos to contribute, send them to kblack@hcs-k12.org |

| 08/15/2009 | Could you show on the map where you prefer visitor parking? I did not see this on the map provided. The map was very helpful showing the preferred traffic flow. thank you Moderator Note: Visitors should park in the staff lots on the South side of the building. All visitors must enter through the main doors under the pitched canopy (HS) or the arched canopy (MS). |

| 08/17/2009 | I'm also looking for a bus schedule for high school and elementary. My children are dropped off in the morning, but must ride the bus home in the afternoon. How do they know which bus to be on? Will school personnel be flexible in permitting them to get on the bus without prior notice to the school? Moderator Note: Your question has been forwarded to the approriate individuals. |

| 08/19/2009 | Please update the athletic department section with the new AD information. Please include sports schedules. It is hard to plan when you don't have the correct schedules. Thanks Moderator Comment: Will get that soon ... the tech department is swamped at the moment with getiing the technology, user accounts, point of sale and other pieces up and running in the new building. This will come soon as will a sports schedule. |

| 08/19/2009 | Keep "Daily Announcements" current and use it as a tool to keep parents informed. Kids are terrible at bringing news home Moderator Note: Right now there is still a significant amount of technology infrastructure to get finished. We will start posting announcements again soon. Thanks for your patience. |

| 08/29/2009 | I'd like to see a link to request information, such as high school transcripts with field to provide mailing address. Moderator Comment: Good Idea. When things slow down this fall I'll investigate the possibility. |

| 09/01/2009 | Since Gold Card Renaissance students are supposed to be given free entrance into all 1st semester activities why haven't they been given their cards? The first football game is already past. Renaissance Advisor Response: All renaissance students receive cards that allow them free admittance to sporting events. Cards for last semester are effective until the end of August. The paperwork involved in getting renaissance started each semester (generating the list, the appeals process, production of the cards etc.) requires a few weeks when students do not have cards to use. The congratulations packets containing the cards should be given to students the week after the fair. |

| 10/06/2009 | Please keep the Announcements page current, as someone two months ago commented, the Kids are horrible about keeping us informed. Additionally, while you have over 45 teachers, only Mr. Hunt (Social Studies) appears to have a home page, despite Mr. Binnion (Technology) having updated his blurb last December. I understand that you are probably still fighting IT issues, but surely Mr. Hunt can assist some of the other teachers in getting a page up. As parents of teens, we need every resource we can get to keep current on what is going on while they are in your care. |

| 10/27/2009 | We were sent home a note at the beginning of the year that said HHS Parent/Teacher Conferences were 10/29 from 3-9 but I've heard thru the grapevine that this has been cancelled because of beggars night - is this correct and if so, when will they be rescheduled? Moderator Comment: You are correct. High School and Middle School Conferences have been rescheduled for October 28th, 3 PM-9 PM. No Apptointments are needed. |

| 11/13/2009 | Does anyone else feel that $40 or $50 for a HS yearbook is too much especially compared to the HMS & HES yearbooks? Couldn't two options be offered - a hard cover (at the $40/50) and soft cover (at @$13-20) as this appears to be the main difference? With 6 kids in school, we have to tell our 2 high schoolers "sorry, we just can't swing the cost" which is a shame as these are supposed to be the best years (memory wise) of their schooling and the ones when they are cementing the social bonds and friendships to last a lifetime. |

| 01/07/2010 | We need information on high school yearbooks. Where and when to order, also how much? MODERATOR COMMENT: There is a link at the the top of the high school main page to order year books or for other questions, such as cost contact Rob Snavely (rsnavely@hcs-k12.org) at the high school. |

| 01/07/2010 | Can you please tell me when freshman can attend summer school for P.E. if they opted out during the school year? We are making vacation plans and need to know some dates. Thank you. MODERATOR COMMENT: As a freshman, you have several opportunity for your P.E. credit over the next few years. According to counselor Larry Wiley, at the high school, your best bet is to contact him, in the guidance office (9373934417), so that he can lay out the options for you. |

| 01/20/2010 | I like to use the progress book to keep track of my child's progress but have been unable to see anything. it shows what they are missing but if you click the calender its empty, the homework is empty why have a report card in that area if you cannot use it does not show the last 1st quarter. If the only thing you offer is the averages and the assignments list then that should be the only thing for us to click on. Its annoying. Not to mention frustrating. I think that at the end of each day the teachers should give a brief description of what they did for the day and what homework is to be done. but that area does not work. Hopefully in the future these can be fixed. |

| 01/20/2010 | I am very disappointed in the math classes; they (the teachers) are unable to make sure all students have graphing calculators. Many students cannot afford them and those students should have been given the calculators first. Many students have parents that can buy them for their children. It is very important to make sure all students are taken care of. The math teachers are limiting the students learning. It would be nice to know that all students have what they need to learn and complete their work. It is not acceptable for a son or daughter to receive a D or F because they were not given a graphing calculator. After finding out that all the classes had graphing calculators handed to the students, accept a few. The school should be responsible to provide these students who a left, with one too. |

| 01/21/2010 | In response to Alyssa, I too find it very frustrating that the school does not make use of the Progress Book in its entirety. If used properly it would be a valuable asset to parents and students. I find that many teachers don't post grades in a timely fashion entering them in bulk at midterm and quarter end. The report card and homework sections are not utilized at all. Also I have had problems with teachers or administrators doing me the courtesy of returning an email or phone call. Effective and timely communication is certainly lacking at Hillsboro HS. |

| 01/26/2010 | I know a lot of parents are frustrated with grades not being posted on Progress Book immediately, but with most teachers have about 100 kids a semester, or more, it is hard to get all that graded and put in Progress Book within a week. And a lot of teachers do not put in make-up work till near the end of the grading periods because most students do not realize they are missing or are apathetic about their grades. Teachers are busy enough as it is and parents should give them a break. It is a new school and a new system. |

| 02/08/2010 | Why doesn't the coaches and Athletic department use the one-call system? It really seems to me that this is a very beneficial tool that is not being utilized. I have asked 3 board members and they all said that is very easy to set up and use and that each and every coach could use this system to notify parents of practice changes, game changes and other events. This past weekends game changes could of easily been relayed to the parents. As well as any events that are taking place. It really seems that communication is laking and this is a great way to help that! I would really like to see this implemented. We have the system lets use it! It would be so easy to put all the athletes in the system you wouldn't even have to separate it just send the call to all the boys and girls. Thanks |
