SCOL Art Exhibit Approaching

 

The Visual Arts Department at Hillsboro High School is hosting this year’s SCOL Art Exhibit: A Stroke of Genius on April 18 from noon to 4:00. The show will be judged from 10am to noon and open to the public noon to 4pm. The location of the Art Show will be in the high school cafetorium. The show is in it’s 12th year and the second time it has been hosted at Hillsboro High School. The last time it was hosted by HHS was in 2008. Everyone is invited to come see the wonderful art work that these students have created! Prepare to be impressed!

Hillsboro Middle School Eighth Grade Visits Washington D.C.
 
Eighth Grade Students from Hillsboro Middle School toured Washington DC and Gettysburg PA from April 8-10, 2015. Highlights from the trip included a tour of the US Capitol, a performance at Ford's Theater, a wreath ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, and a tour at Gettysburg. Also, students visited The Korean Memorial, The Vietnam Memorial, The FDR Memorial, The WWII Memorial, The Lincoln Memorial, The Martin Luther King Memorial, The Smithsonian of Air and Space, and other sites and attractions.

Breakfast is available each day at no charge for all students.

Students that choose to eat in the cafe' for breakfast this week will receive a prize.

CCP (College Credit Plus) Meeting
This meeting is mandatory for any student in grades 6 through 11 this school year who wishes to participate in taking college courses next school year.  This meeting is for both students and parents although students are not required to attend.  The meeting is February 10th at 6:30 PM at Hillsboro Elementary School
If you cannot attend this meeting the 2nd meeting will be February 26th at 6:30 PM.  Attendance at one of the meetings is MANDATORY for participation in school year 15/16.  The CCP program is replacing the former program know as PSEO.

October 6 - October 11 is Homecoming Week at Hillsboro High School. 

 

The Homecoming game will be at 7:30pm on Friday, October 10 versus East Clinton. The 2014 Homecoming King and Queen will be announced during the game.

 

Saturday, October 11 will be the Homecoming Dance from 8pm-11pm. Tickets must be purchased before the dance and students bringing dates from other schools must get a permission form from the HS office.

Bus Service for Laurel Oaks Students

Juniors attending Laurel Oaks, who are in session until June 4, 2014 will be provided a daily shuttle as usual to the Oaks Campus. However, transportation to/from home will not be provided after May 22, 2014. The shuttle bus will be leaving Hillsboro Elementary at 7:30 am each morning and will be returning in the afternoon at 3:30 pm.  Any questions or concerns, please call the bus garage at 393-4471.

HHS Theatre Department Hosts Fall Festival

The Hillsboro High School Theatre Department/Thespian Troupe #5928 is hosting the "Dramatically Awesome Fall Festival" this Saturday, October 25 from 2pm to 5pm in the HHS Auditeria. 

 

This family-friendly Fall Festival will include carnival games, activities for kids, a costume contest, food and treats provided by the Hillsboro PTO, and items for sale by the Freshman and Sophomore classes. Kids won't want to miss "Stage Fright" the haunted stage experience!

 

Admission is $2 per child and all proceeds will go towards providing financial assistance to HHS Theatre students wishing to attend area and state conferences.

HHS Students Collecting "Coins for Cans"

Students in the HHS Business Co-Op have teamed up with the HHS Thespian Troupe #5928 to collect "Coins for Cans". 

 

Each 1st period class is collecting change that will be donated to Samaritain Outreach Services to help provide food for their food pantry. Since the start of the campaign students have raised over $100, which is equal to 1000 pounds of food. 

 

The contest will be running through October 24th. Students are encouraged to bring coins to their 1st period class. The class with the most collected coins will recieve a prize.
