Ohio Master Teacher Designation and Application Process

This page is intended to assist teachers that would like to pursue an OHIO MASTER TEACHER designation.

 A Master Teacher is a teacher who demonstrates excellence inside and outside of the classroom through consistent leadership and focused collaboration to maximize student learning.

 Why pursue a MASTER TEACHER designation?

With a MASTER TEACHER designation you can apply for a SENIOR Professional or LEAD Professional Educator License. The Master Teacher program is one requirement for the pathway for an advanced level of  licensure. (National Board Certification is another pathway for an advanced level of licensure.)

 What are prerequisites for MASTER TEACHER designation?

 To be eligible for the MASTER TEACHER designation, educators must at least:

1.hold a valid professional license or certificate,
2.have taught at least 7 years,
3.work a minimum of 120 day during the current school year.
4.work under a teaching contract/employed as a teacher.
