HMS Eighth Graders Visit Washington DC

Students were given a guided tour of the US Capitol, National Archives, and the Washington National Cathedral. Students did a self-guided tour of the Museum at Ford’s Theatre, The Peterson House, The Smithsonian of American History, and The Smithsonian of Air and Space.

Students gathered in front of The White House for pictures. At Arlington National Cemetery students witnessed The Changing Of The Guard. Class members Lawton Parry, Hope Middleton, Karison Bennett and Jaqueline Sweet participated in a Wreath Ceremony at The Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier.

On the return trip students visited Gettysburg, PA. In addition to touring the battleground, students also visited the site where Abraham Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address.
