Hillsboro Robotics to host competition on Saturday, Nov. 18 at Hillsboro MS/HS

The Hillsboro Robotics program will host a robotics competition this Saturday, November 18 starting at 9 AM. Doors will open at 8 AM. Over 30 teams will be here competing and several organizations/businesses including Weastec, McCarty Associates, GE, Corvac Composites, SSCC, Ohio University, and Mid-Atlantic will be part of the judging process. The competition is free to spectators!

5th Grade Student Council Presents at School Board Meeting

On Wednesday, November 15, Hillsboro Elementary's 5th grade student council provided a presentation to those in attendance at the school board meeting. 

Hugh O'Bryan Leadership Awards Announced

This year's Hugh O'Bryan Leadership Award winner is Ben S. The alternate is Christopher J. Ben will represent Hillsboro High School at a leadership conference in Marietta, Ohio in June 2018.

Hillsboro FFA Poinsettia Sale: 11/21 - 12/18

The Hillsboro FFA Chapter is selling poinsettias from November 21 through December 18. The cost is $10 a piece or $8 a piece for 3 or more. Walk-ins are wecome from 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM Monday - Friday. For more information, call 937-393-3485 ext. 1580.

HMS Students Attend Project TRUST

A group of 7th grade students from Hillsboro Middle School attended Project TRUST, a leadership, team-building, and anti-bullying retreat from November 8 through November 10.

Hillsboro FFA Chapter Holds Leadership Night at Hillsboro Elementary

Friday November 10th the Hillsboro FFA chapter held leadership night at the elementary school. All the FFA chapters in Highland County participated. State FFA officers Kolsen McCoy, Evan Callicoat and Ryan Matthews attended. They taught the members what set their hearts on fire. After the session, members were able to speak with the officers and participate in games and activities with them.

Hillsboro FFA Chapter Attends National Convention

On October 25, several members of the Hillsboro FFA chapter traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana to attend the 90th National FFA Convention and Expo. The students learned about agriculture and leadership at its finest, with many great experiences that they will remember for a lifetime.

Hillsboro MS/HS Participate in Veterans Day Assembly

Hillsboro Middle and High School students participated in a Veterans Day assembly on Friday, Nov. 10. The Hillsboro High School men's choir and MS/HS band performed and veterans were recognized as well. Additionally, local veteran and Hillsboro High School graduate, Terry Dean, spoke to the student body and veterans in attendance about his service in the armed forces. Hillsboro City Schools would like to thank all of those individuals who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces. We are grateful for your sacrifices. Happy Veterans Day!

About the District:

With an enrollment of nearly 2,700 students, Hillsboro City School District is the largest of the five public schools systems in rural Highland County. The district boundaries encompass the city of Hillsboro (county seat of Highland County) as well as much of the surrounding rural area in central Highland County.

Our Educational Program:

 Hillsboro City Schools' educational programs are focused on providing multiple avenues,  academic experiences, and academic supports to help EVERY child make his/her way to success in life. Our Curriculum is carefully planned to align with the State of Ohio Content Standards and Common Core Standards. At all grade levels, we take extreme care to asses each student's academic progress and provide "Tiers of Intervention" for students who are not meeting the academic standards.  We provide academic challenges for students that are above the standard.

In addition to the traditional high school curricula, Hillsboro High School offers extensive curricular options in Advanced Placement Courses, Post-Secondary Courses, and outstanding options in Vocational Agriculture and Fine Arts.

Hillsboro, Ohio is located in the gently rolling hills of scenic Highland County, Ohio at the junction of US Highway 50 and US Highway 62.
With a population of  6,368 (according to the US Census Bureau, 2000), the quiet town  can be reached by travelling East from Cincinnati along US Route 50 or by travelling South-West from Columbus on US Route 62.

According to the US Census Bureau report for the 2000 Census*  the population of Hillsboro is 45.3% male and 54.7% female. The population's racial mixture is 91.8% White, 6.9% black, 1.3% Asian, and 0.7% American Indian. 41% of the 25 year and older population have achieved a high school diploma and 31.9% have education beyond high school 4.7% with Bachelor's Degrees and 6.2% with professional or graduate degrees. The mean household income is $25,998.(*http://censtats.census.gov/data/OH/1603935560.pdf)
