Lady Indians Basketball Players Attend State Basketball Tournament

Members of the Hillsboro Lady Indians basketball program in grades 7-12 attended the OHSAA girls' state basketball tournament games on Saturday, March 17 at The Ohio State University.

Hillsboro Elementary to Support Highland County Society for Children & Adults Telethon

Hillsboro Elementary will be supporting the Highland County Society for Children & Adults telethon. Students and staff are encouraged to bring in money this week. The pod that donates the most money will get to "slime" their principal in a slime booth. If $2,000 or more is raised by this Friday, March 23, all 3 principals will participate in the slime booth.

Immunization Clinic for Students Entering Grades 7 and 12 for the 2018-19 School Year

The Highland County Health Department will be coming to HHS on March 22, 2018 to offer immunizations that are required for students entering the 7th and 12th grades next year.  If your child did not bring home a packet of information about the clinic please pick one up in the clinic or in the HHS office.  The clinic will start at 7:30 am that morning. 

Kindergarten Registration Scheduled for March 29

Kindergarten registration for the 2018-19 school year is scheduled for March 29 from 9 AM - 3:30 PM at Hillsboro Elementary.

2018 Rotary Youth Leadership Award Winners Announced

Congratulations to the 2018 Rotary Youth Leadership Award winners. They will be attending RYLA leadership camp in April, sponsored by the Hillsboro Rotary Club. Congratulations to Emily H., Makayla W., Ben S., Katie C., and alternate Emma H.

HHS Rotary Four Way Speech Contest

Congratulations to the HHS Rotary Four Way Speech contest winner Emma H. and second place winner Gideon P. Emma H. will compete in the county contest with a chance to compete in the district contest in April.

Hillsboro FFA Chapter Awards Members for Fruit Sales

On February 22, 2018 the Hillsboro FFA rewarded their members for the annual fruit sale. This year’s winners are Kirsten H. with a $15 Wendy’s card, Madi S., Zane A. and Spencer R. each won a $10 Dairy Queen gift card. Kennedi C. won a $15 Taco Bell card, Adah C. won a $15 Subway gift card, Nate S. won a FFA watch, Lana G. won a $25 gift card the Shop FFA, Grant C. won a $50 gift card to shop FFA. Emily P., Taryn M. and Maddy M. each won tumblers, Bryce S. won a wireless speaker, Jordan W. won a $100 gift card to Shop FFA and Brittany R. won a Chromebook laptop. Taryn M. said “ It felt great to be recognized for the hard work we have all done.” The Hillsboro FFA would like to thank all its members and supporters for their hard work and generosity to the chapter.

Girls Bowling Team Places as District Runner-Up

Congratulations to the girls bowling team for placing district runner-ups on February 24 in Chillicothe.

Quick Recall Team Wins FAC Tournament

About the District:

With an enrollment of nearly 2,700 students, Hillsboro City School District is the largest of the five public schools systems in rural Highland County. The district boundaries encompass the city of Hillsboro (county seat of Highland County) as well as much of the surrounding rural area in central Highland County.

Our Educational Program:

 Hillsboro City Schools' educational programs are focused on providing multiple avenues,  academic experiences, and academic supports to help EVERY child make his/her way to success in life. Our Curriculum is carefully planned to align with the State of Ohio Content Standards and Common Core Standards. At all grade levels, we take extreme care to asses each student's academic progress and provide "Tiers of Intervention" for students who are not meeting the academic standards.  We provide academic challenges for students that are above the standard.

In addition to the traditional high school curricula, Hillsboro High School offers extensive curricular options in Advanced Placement Courses, Post-Secondary Courses, and outstanding options in Vocational Agriculture and Fine Arts.

Hillsboro, Ohio is located in the gently rolling hills of scenic Highland County, Ohio at the junction of US Highway 50 and US Highway 62.
With a population of  6,368 (according to the US Census Bureau, 2000), the quiet town  can be reached by travelling East from Cincinnati along US Route 50 or by travelling South-West from Columbus on US Route 62.

According to the US Census Bureau report for the 2000 Census*  the population of Hillsboro is 45.3% male and 54.7% female. The population's racial mixture is 91.8% White, 6.9% black, 1.3% Asian, and 0.7% American Indian. 41% of the 25 year and older population have achieved a high school diploma and 31.9% have education beyond high school 4.7% with Bachelor's Degrees and 6.2% with professional or graduate degrees. The mean household income is $25,998.(*http://censtats.census.gov/data/OH/1603935560.pdf)
