Juniors will be taking the ACT on Tuesday, February 27

All HHS juniors will be taking the ACT Tuesday, Feb. 27th at 7:30 AM. Here is some info about testing:
1) Do not bring cell phones, bookbags, drinks or snacks -- (Lock them in your locker or car.)
2) If you have a graphing calculator, bring it
3) Bring a pencil
4) Eat a good breakfast, it will be long morning
5) There will be a 15 minute break in the middle of testing
6) Be sure to use the restroom prior to testing

Congratulations to Hillsboro High School student, Riley M. on winning the South Central Power Foundation scholarship. Riley will also represent South Central Power in a statewide scholarship contest sponsored by the Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives, Inc.

Congrats to the Girls Bowling Team!

Congratulations to the girls bowling team on winning a sectional championship on Friday, Feb. 16. They will compete in district competition on Saturday, Feb. 24 in Chillicothe.

Kindergarten Registration Scheduled for March 29

Kindergarten registration for the 2018-19 school year is scheduled for March 29 from 9 AM - 3:30 PM at Hillsboro Elementary.

Hillsboro Robotics Teams Compete in Milford

Saturday, February 10th, Hillsboro’s middle school and high school robotics teams traveled to Milford Middle School for their 3rd competition of the season where 54 teams from 18 different schools put their engineering skills to the test. Team Surge (Sara N., Eden E. & Abi K.) not only brought home the Middle School Tournament Champions trophy, they also won the Judge’s Award given to the team that showed exemplary accomplishments, perseverance, and efforts throughout the season. Alpha Squad (Emma L., Jack R., Coltin H., & Blake T.) won the High School Design Award.

Students in Mrs. Barnett's class at Hillsboro Elementary celebrated the 100th day of school by releasing balloons.

Hillsboro High School Athletic Hall of Fame Induction

The Hillsboro High School Athletic Hall of Fame inducted the 2003 boys golf team on Saturday, February 3. The team won the SCOL league championship, sectional championship, district championship and placed 2nd overall at the state championship in 2003. Golf team members include Matt Armintrout, Drew Balser, Nathan Boatman, Adam King, Bret Rhodes, and Jason Waggoner. The Indians were coached by Dan Spidel and Terry McConnaughey.

Hillsboro Robotics Teams Compete in Milford

The Hillsboro Robotics teams traveled to Milford Saturday, January 27th, for their second
competition of the year. Forty-one high school and middle school teams from south western and
south central Ohio schools participated. Five teams from Hillsboro advanced to the elimination rounds after posting impressive qualifying results.

About the District:

With an enrollment of nearly 2,700 students, Hillsboro City School District is the largest of the five public schools systems in rural Highland County. The district boundaries encompass the city of Hillsboro (county seat of Highland County) as well as much of the surrounding rural area in central Highland County.

Hillsboro, Ohio is located in the gently rolling hills of scenic Highland County, Ohio at the junction of US Highway 50 and US Highway 62.
With a population of  6,368 (according to the US Census Bureau, 2000), the quiet town  can be reached by travelling East from Cincinnati along US Route 50 or by travelling South-West from Columbus on US Route 62.

According to the US Census Bureau report for the 2000 Census*  the population of Hillsboro is 45.3% male and 54.7% female. The population's racial mixture is 91.8% White, 6.9% black, 1.3% Asian, and 0.7% American Indian. 41% of the 25 year and older population have achieved a high school diploma and 31.9% have education beyond high school 4.7% with Bachelor's Degrees and 6.2% with professional or graduate degrees. The mean household income is $25,998.(*http://censtats.census.gov/data/OH/1603935560.pdf)
